EdCast

Daily micro learning and knowledge sharing, from the palm of your hand

EdCast lets business teams create, share and discover the learning they need, at the moment they need it.

The app is still on the App Store, under another name: Cornerstone acquired EdCast, and the listing now ships as Cornerstone LearningExperience.

EdCast

Corporate learning usually arrives as a catalogue somebody else assembled. EdCast turns it into a feed: co-workers and channels to follow, cards to rate, bookmark and mark as complete, and a phone that offers the next thing worth five minutes.

What EdCast offers

  • Discover and learn: the most relevant learning from co-workers, internal experts, formal and informal courses, external experts, MOOCs and the web
  • Micro learning: a real-time feed on the phone, curated, personalized and constantly calibrated
  • Create and share: publish what you know to your followers and teams straight away
  • Video learning: stream live from the phone, share it with the team and save it for later

From design to native iOS

We worked inside the EdCast product team as senior iOS developers, turning its designs into the native app and continuing the work after the acquisition by Cornerstone.

The assignment was implementation: make demanding product designs work as real iOS screens across the feed, discovery, authoring and pathways.

Look & Feel

The EdCast product team owned the visual design. Our job was to implement it faithfully on iOS: red on white, five tabs along the bottom, and content that always takes the same shape: a card with its author, a rating, and the actions to like it, comment on it and save it for later.

The card is also the unit of authoring. The create screen offers the same shapes the feed displays, so what someone makes looks exactly like what they consume.
